SENTINEL STAFF REPORT
The Super Bowl 10k proved to be no small-name road race as
local stars Katrin Tobin and Barb Acosta battled for the women’s
title Sunday. Acosta won the race, finishing the scenic 6.2-mile
run along West Cliff Drive in Santa Cruz in 39 minutes, 53
seconds. Tobin took second for the women in 40:03.
Saratoga’s Gabriel Lombriser, 23, won the entire race and
men’s 10k title by finishing in 34:51. His closest competitor,
Capitola’s Patricia Williams (35:53), trailed him by more than a
minute. Soquel’s Dan Zulaica finished third (37:29).
In the 3k race, Santa Cruz’s Peter Huemer finished
first with a time of 10:19. He was closely followed by Jeff Kirk
(10:29), also of Santa Cruz. Hollister’s Ann Mari Rich, who is
just 12 years old, finished fifth overall and tops for women in
